Golden Peace

Golden Peace

“Golden Peace” is a visual ode to unity, love and resilience. The hand with the familiar peace sign in the centre is decorated with shimmering gold leaf, symbolising the precious and fragile nature of peace. Although the gold shines, it is intentionally cracked to allow the vibrant colours of the peace flag in the background to shine through. These cracks are a metaphor for imperfection and the struggle for harmony, reminding us that beauty often lies in imperfection.

The red hearts scattered throughout the hand symbolise love as the guiding force in the pursuit of peace. They act as a kind of adhesive tape, trying to hold together the cracks in the gold leaf and the overall structure of the hand.

Through the combination of rich pasty textures, vibrant colours and iconic symbols, this work seeks to demonstrate peace, but also its fragility. It invites viewers to reflect on their role in promoting love and unity in a world that often feels torn, yet holds the potential for splendour and hope.
